What are typical applications
for bonding with Plexus adhesives? |

Plexus adhesives are toughened
adhesives designed for structural bonding applications. Typical
applications include joining many thermoplastic assemblies in
automobiles such as dashboards, spoilers, panels and bumpers.
The Class 8 Heavy Duty truck industry uses Plexus for bonding
together cab and sleeper assemblies made of FRP or SMC. The
use of Plexus adhesives is revolutionizing fiberglass boat construction
by dramatically speeding and simplifying production. |

What materials will Plexus™
not bond? |
 |
Plexus adhesives will not
bond the usual materials that are designed to resist adhesive
bonding such as Teflon, polyethylene, polypropylene, and Delrin.
In addition, Plexus adhesives are not designed for bonding rubber
materials. |

Are there any materials that
deserve special consideration prior to bonding with Plexus™
adhesives? |
 |
Yes. Nearly anything to
be bonded with Plexus adhesives ought to be carefully evaluated
beforehand. Though Plexus has been successfully used many times
for bonding nylon, polystyrene, polycarbonate, and ABS, care
must be taken in correct Plexus product selection because these
plastics are prone to crazing and stress-cracking. For these
reasons, the ITW Plexus technical service laboratory is available

How fast are Plexus™
adhesives? |

Because of the wide variety
of production methods around today Plexus have developed a range
of adhesives with cure times from 90 seconds through to 90 minutes.
Plexus technical service can help to choose the right adhesive
and application method to suite the customers needs. |

Will I need any equipment
to dispense the adhesive? |
 |
Plexus is truly a flexible
package with dispensing systems ranging from cake bagging, and
manual cartridge dispensing guns, through to fully automated
